Hey all, I drive a 2007 Ford Escape and am looking into replacing the tweeters.
Any suggestions on brand? Also, is there a such thing as having tweeters that are too big in terms of their physical size?
Any and all help/suggestions are appreciated!

If you're going to replace the tweets, you may as well replace the speakers.

Get yourself a good component set and you'll be happy.

As for "too big" of tweet, not really. Unless you go with some high end ones, they'll all be the same general size. Although, they all may require some ingenuity to make them fit properly.

Check Rockford fosgate too.

And...if you want some sweet, sweet audio... http://www.audison.eu/index.php?page=products

I've looked into a component set. But whats all this about mid bass drivers? What do they do and what role would they play in a component setup? I already have two 12's in the back and am looking to go into a component system considering the factory tweeters.
Same role they do in a normal coax speaker, just better. It's not necessarily "bass". They give you some, but a lot of the time they fill in the higher frequencies of the tweets. Just makes the whole package better

I would certainly consider keeping the original mounting positions offered by the MACH system, the brightness created by the higher mounting points for the tweeters is a huge plus.
My days of big stereo are pretty much behind me now but I still apreciate a good clean sounding system.

I currently use a set of Boston Acoustics with a 6" driver and a 3/4" tweeter. I have a 9 ms delay from the driver's side and it's powered with a Boston Acoustics amp. I totally love the sound I get. Too bad Boston's got out of 12 volt car audio, they always sounded great to me.

If I were to do it again, I would buy a set of Focal. I'd get the 6" midbass drivers with a tweeter. If you decide to go with components, I would only use them with an amplifier. The factory tweeters in Escapes are huge in my opinion. I'm sure any after market set would fit nicely in the stock locations.
