Use an empty USB drive. The root of the drive should show: install.lst
autoinstall.lst
SyncMyRide (folder)
The SyncMyRide folder should have about 10 files in it, all named with Ford part numbers.
Open the install.lst file with Notepad (or any text editor) and it should look like:
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!
; !
; USB Update Application !
; !
; USB Installation !
; !
; Microsoft Windows Automotive !
; !
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!
[Windows Mobile For Automotive 5.8]
Item1 = E1BT-14D546-PA
Open1 = SyncMyRide\E1BT-14D546-PA.cab
Item2 = 8L2T-14D546-AF
Open2 = SyncMyRide\8L2T-14D546-AF.cab]
Usually the problem is putting the files in the wrong location on the USB drive, or formatting the USB as something other than FAT (or FAT32). Sometimes the install.lst file will have multiple "[Windows Mobile For Automotive 5.8]" lines, if it does, delete any duplicates.
