Car computer info Bluetooth to your phone

Postby AusEscape - September 13th, 2016, 11:05 pm

I bought this a few years ago for a different car to decode an engine light. It also delivers current running stats to your device with the app.
Here are a few photos to see a few things it can read.
Depending what your into you could have your phone in a holder and keep an eye on how your car is running.
There are some on eBay.
OBD2 or they can have another name starts with elm I think.
It was about $25.
I had to get one that was compatible with a Holden(Aussie make) but it is easier to get for any other car.
Cool toy and can be handy if you get an engine light on.
Good to have for long trips if you throw a code error you can see if it is time to panic or carry on.
It just plugs in under the dash.
I shopped for one with an on/off switch. It can be switched off instead of pulling it out.

It has all sorts of options I have not even explored. It can be displayed in dials as well. You can customise the view.

That sounds right. I am going to work now I will check this arvo. I have it on an old Samsung phone as I could not get one to match my iPhone and the car I needed.
I don't use it much.

Looks kinda like this one:

I see a bunch listed, they can't be much different and I bet work with multiple apps, with a little tinkering. Think I might have to play with one.

Torque has been around a while. I'll be using track recorder plug in for torque next month at Mazda Laguna Seca.

Sleestak there are a lot of different products out there. The thing is to see if if your car is on the list of compatible models.
The other thing would be check the shape as that one looks longer than some and the spot to plug in is under the dash near your feet so it might be in a spot to be kicked if your not careful. Also if you want to leave it plugged in it will stay on so one with an on/off switch will be easier than unplugging all the time if you use it that much.
Just a few things I came across in researching.

What is Mazda Laguna Seca? Sounds like a track on PlayStation I once raced at. I think I had a Dodge Viper. Lol

Oh, it was and still is on all the good racing games. It's a track in Monterey California. Obviously not driving the escape on the track.
