Postby subdewd - October 5th, 2016, 11:53 am

I am needing to replace the battery cooling fans on 2007 mer mariner w/155000mi.
Anyone mail order before? wondering the best source.

Is 5M6Z10C659A the proper OEM number?

Dealer Part, Rock Auto is not likely to have it. The new number is 5M6Z-10C659-B, and I got mine from FordPartsGiant.com, but I have also used Tasca Parts.
They are ~$300+ ship. You should also consider doing the Blend Door Motor/Actuator (AL8Z-19E616-F) That new part number is supposed to be much more reliable than the older models. Replacing it is a PIA, but it is only ~$30 and is a common problem. Good video on replacing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFtgRL_PAkE
Note: FordPartsGiant usually drop-ships from a Ford Dealer, Tasca is a Ford Dealership.

I check and use RockAuto first
Then I also use Amazon and also Google shopping
Via GoogleI found the best price on the blend door motor was WalMart. Picked up the Motorcraft part at the local Walmart Neighborhood (grocery) store, no freight

How can one test the cooling fans or the actuator door to see which one might be the culprit? I have no warning lights on but the car is misbehaving.

Easiest way to test the door is to get a metal washer, and about a foot of fishing line. Access the air filter in the rear cargo area. Remove the filter, and place the washer on top of the door, and secure the other end of the line. Replace the filter and cover. Drive for a couple days. If when you check back, the washer has dropped inside, your blend door works. Use the fishing line to retrieve it.

I'm not sure of the procedure to test the fans. I know on my FEH I can hear them running when stopped in electric mode.
