Tunes for a 3.0

Postby MazdaShark - November 4th, 2015, 11:56 am

Does such a thing exist specifically for the early gen V6's? Even a programmable trick to give better MPG or Horsepower would be preferable. I tried 4 different aftermarket tuners but none seem to play well with the smaller motors (I.E. it works in my 5.0 and 5.4 triton but not on a 2.4 or the 3.0)

Perhaps the actual programming pack for skipping engine limiters would be nice too but I am trying to get opinions if this will result in an engine fire or if someone else has done this for a V6? Thanks!

My 03 escape with V6 has a SCT X3 tune. Basically you can choose economic or performance tune and I selected economic tune. The MPG is improved a little, but the transmission shift has improved a lot. You can also fine tune some of the parameters, such as the spark plug timing.

Torrie @ unleashed tuning is very familiar with the escape

I had an SCT X3 from him tuned for both my 2005, 2.3L and 3.0L.

The mpg tune didn't do much for me, it turns the car into a dog and early shifts, which I then pushed the gas more/harder to get going. With the performance tune, I got good mpg and fun, but I only use 91 oct.
