Thanks for the info, will talk to the General Manager of the dealership and see what can be done. Ford called today to advise that the part required for my Silver Escape will be available by the end of the first quarter! My jaw dropped >:( They are offering a 5yr 125000km Extracare warranty on the Silver unit and for my wifes Black one which at least we have a 2yr 40000Km maintenance plan. I have so far declined. Part could show up next week or end of March who knows! I pointed out that I saved them at least $2500 during December when I did not turn over both Escapes for rentals as they could not guarantee me an equivalent size vehicle. It didn't seem to matter to them.

WHen did you swap out your Escape and do you mind sharing which dealer?

I swaped the vehical out last week. It took a few weeks of convincing, I was also having other issues with the vehical (windows didnt work right, passenger door sometimes wouldn't register as open, oil leak, etc). I have been with my dealer for 9 years and this is my 7th (well 8 now) car with them, and have brought them many family and friends, so they wanted to make sure I was happy. Its a Dealership in Ontario, Canada.

Well I am happy to report that after several weeks of negotiations Ford have stepped up to the plate with $5000 and my dealer is covering the difference owed on my 1.6L Escape and will be picking up a brand new 2.0L SE identically equipped as my 1.6 either tomorrow or Saturday. Ultimately only paying upgrade cost of 2.0 engine. It paid to be persistent but at all times remained calm and respectful! :yahoo: :thumb:

I have a new 2013 Escape with 5000 miles and I'm still experiencing the same overheating problem the recall should have fixed. It has been at the dealers for a week and they can't find out why it still is overheating and tells me the recall was done. They are now working with the Ford Hotline and Ford is having them jump through hoops with a series of test. What happens if they can't stop the engine from overheating? Do I get a new engine? New Car? Ford don't make me regret buying this car!

Yes, if your engine overheats consistently, you're likely getting a new engine, but not till Ford says it's ok to replace the entire assembly, or if they find the issue causing the overheating.

Are you in a loaner/rental car? If so, be patient to a point. It will be fixed.

I'd make them swap you for a 2.0. A number of people are having the same problem as you which tells me that Ford has not yet really gotten to the core of the original problem...
