I was waiting for the '13's to debut so I can get one, but my Ford dealership gave me a great deal on a '12 fully loaded 3.0L "E" for only $26,000 so I got that and thank god I did after hearing all of the problems and recalls the '13 is having. I think it will take a year or two until they get the kinks worked out.

I got nowhere with ford customer service. They offered me an extended warranty to 100,00km and 4 years. I was persistent with the dealer and they worked hard for me, got some money from Ford then they covered the rest to get me into a 2.0L. Kept my payments the same, so bassically I only lost out on about a months worth of payments, but got a brand new upgraded car with no KMs on it (I had put 6000km on the 1.6L).

If you have a good dealer they can make it work.

Thanks for the info, will talk to the General Manager of the dealership and see what can be done. Ford called today to advise that the part required for my Silver Escape will be available by the end of the first quarter! My jaw dropped >:( They are offering a 5yr 125000km Extracare warranty on the Silver unit and for my wifes Black one which at least we have a 2yr 40000Km maintenance plan. I have so far declined. Part could show up next week or end of March who knows! I pointed out that I saved them at least $2500 during December when I did not turn over both Escapes for rentals as they could not guarantee me an equivalent size vehicle. It didn't seem to matter to them.

WHen did you swap out your Escape and do you mind sharing which dealer?

I'm sorry but this reminds me of Detroit back in the 70s and 80s and 90s! Apparently Ford has a short memory of part of what got the industry in to such trouble and caused the wide-scale defections to Asia and Europe! My 13 Escape is my first domestic vehicle in a long time and may very well be the last as well because of such antics and all the problems...

I swaped the vehical out last week. It took a few weeks of convincing, I was also having other issues with the vehical (windows didnt work right, passenger door sometimes wouldn't register as open, oil leak, etc). I have been with my dealer for 9 years and this is my 7th (well 8 now) car with them, and have brought them many family and friends, so they wanted to make sure I was happy. Its a Dealership in Ontario, Canada.

windows didnt work right

Tell me more about this. It seems my passenger front window is having trouble. It hangs and goes very slowly as if is dying.

Both of my front windows were doing it too. The dealer replaced both regulators and said that they had not been properly lubed from the factory... They both seem to be fine now. They also checked the rear and said that they were OK.

Sometimes I feel like I am driving a beta test...

Ya the window went really slow and would stall. Service guy said frame was a little tight and sprayed about a can of lube in all of the window frames and it helped on that car. I'm noticing a similar problem on my 2.0 now too.
