Mitsubishi FTO 1996 MIVEC

Postby niels_dart - November 30th, 2015, 6:52 pm

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to show some pictures from my FTO. More pictures are still to come, I bought an aftermarket front bumper, like a shark nose and I have to test fit it
Second picture is my wife for her first and only drive with a right-hand drive car. :D
The car has a 200 hp, 2.0l V6 which redlines close to 9000 rpm, a real screamer!!
The first time a used the kick down with a warm engine I let the gas pedal go out shock, it scared the crap out of me. :D
It sounded like a jet engine and it wouldn't stop accelerating until 8300 RPM, that was enough for me.
Transmission is a Tiptronic, designed by Porsche and you can shift manually.
Very cool car!

Is that equivalent to the Mitsubishi 3000 gt they sold in the states? That was quite the performance bargain in its day.

Nope,

The 3000 GTor GTO (or maybe you know it as the dodge stealth :D ) was a rearwheel drive 3.0 V6
and weighed around 3700 lbs.
This is frontwheel drive :worry: , 2.0 V6 and weighs 2500 lbs!
Also, it's 10 inches shorter at 161"
It is known of Gran Turismo, as being one of the best handling cars of the field.
Only minor thing is it's righthand drive only and only sold in Japan back in the day.

Looks like it's supposed to be a competitor to the old Nissan Skyline.

Very nice car. I have so wanted one since 96. Keep looking on the Japan auto transport sites. But they either want way too much, or they are beat to death, with new paint thrown on. Ohh and the stupid import laws the U.S. has. >:(

Thanks!

I know a couple of them in Holland and a lot in the UK.
A good one sells for around 2500 Euro, that's about the same in Dollars.
Maybe you can get me a Cadillac sedan Deville from 1976 full options and I will send you my FTO and I will pay for transport and customs! :D :D
Or a 1969 Ford mustang fastback , 6 banger no problem, same deal.
