2007 V6 every six months or 6000 miles with Mobil-1 5W-20. More often after towing the 2000 pound trailer on a 2000 mile round trip.

Is it just me, or does 600 miles seem a bit excessive?

Likewise, using full synthetic.

Went with 0w20 synthetic today. Gonna go 10k kilometers I think, that's around what I went on the dino that I drained out of it and it didn't seem too bad.

Any particular reason you use a 40 weight oil? Seems kind of thick for a modern engine. I used to run 10W30 in the winter, and 10W40 in the summer on my 81 Buick, but now even on the Buick I use 5W30 year round.

My 2007 Escape has 79,xxx on it. I use Mobil1 5w20. I go about 7500+- miles mostly NYC with some Long Island driving. I would consider it severe driving conditions. I'm heavy on the gas and brake too. I've been doing 7500 since I got it with 15k on the clock.

I am burning oil though. I need a quart every 6000 miles. At which point I keep some quart bottles of cheap oil around for that last 1500 or so miles. the first time I had to add oil was at 30k. It's pretty predictable, it hasn't gotten any worse.

QUESTION: How often do you guys change your air filters and trany fluid? I dump the drain plug once a year. I know that only gets half the fluid, but it's more than most cars will ever see. Air filter, not very often for me. It's dirt cheap, but such a pain in the a** to get out and put back in. The couple times i changed it, it still looked like new. My Volvo and Jeep get filthy with oil residue, sand and leaves. I have to change them frequently for very obvious reasons.
