Need a hitch for your new to you Gen II ?

Just a suggestion for anyone looking for a class III hitch for their Gen II Escape.

About a month ago I picked up a 2012 and have been watching the ads for a hitch so I can pull my landscape trailer.

Found lots of 1.25" available, the type you stick a bicycle rack into, and some even had bump up adapters for the 2"X2" mounts.

Just hated to go this route as I also want a rear carrier for the hitch to move the odd snowblower or mower, now that my Ranger PU is gone.

Got lucky today. A Ford dealer was clearing out old stock, and well, as much as a 2012 is new to me, it's obsolete to them.

Picked up a brand new still wrapped Class III Ford hitch, made by Draw Tite for $80, Regular $300. Also included the still sealed install hwd pack and instructions in at least 3 languages.

Unfortunately relays for the wiring are not yet obsolete to them.

So the moral of the story is: Ask your Ford dealer as they too may be in the process of clearing out obsolete Gen II ad ons.
