Rear glass seal

Postby HuntingEscape - November 9th, 2016, 9:53 am

I have cleaned this seal so many times i can't count anymore, and yet it continues to leak a little. Is there an upgrade/factory replacement for this seal on the rear hatch glass?

I seem to recall reading that someone bought a new seal and it was a bit thicker and so it didnt leak. If you dont open the window you may also consider gluing it closed or something as well. I would assume that adding some foam weather stripping would be another option.

There is a revised rear glass weatherstrip available from your Ford dealer's parts department.

Rubber gaskets/seals shrink over time, lose their elasticity, and/or become brittle so they no longer seal like they are supposed to.

Time to buy a new one.

While this is true, the earlier 2nd generation Escapes had a poorly designed weatherstrip for the rear glass. If you buy one from your dealer now, you will get a new revised design.
